Ways of working

Straightforward engagements, from first conversation to handover.

Most clients come to me with a specific problem: an audit ahead, a deal to get through or a finance function that needs sorting out. The path from first conversation to delivery is the same each time.

The process

Five steps, no surprises.

Each step is short and written down, so you always know where the work stands and what happens next.

Step 01 of 05

First conversation

A short call at no cost. You describe the situation and I ask questions until I understand it. If I am not the right person for it, I will say so and point you elsewhere if I can.

Principles

What stays the same

  • 01

    Clear scope

We agree what will be done and what will not before work starts.

  • 02

    Agreed fees

A fixed fee or a day rate, set out upfront. No surprises on the invoice.

  • 03

    Plain reporting

Findings are written for the people who need to act on them.

  • 04

    A proper handover

The team should be able to carry on without me when the work ends.

Engagements

Ways to engage me

Three structures cover most situations. The proposal sets out which one applies and what it costs.

Project-based

A defined piece of work with a clear start and end: a due diligence, a hygiene check, a model build or a pre-audit review. Priced as a fixed fee or a day rate.

Interim and fractional

I step into the finance function for a set period, covering a gap or building the team while you recruit. I am available for interim assignments and can work through agencies or direct.

Retained advisory

Ongoing advice on a retained basis: a set number of days each month for questions, board support and reporting. Month to month, with reasonable notice to end.

The first conversation costs nothing.

Describe the situation and I will tell you plainly whether I can help. I usually reply within two working days.
